Calliope Claims the Heart plays mostly original songs inspired by literature and history, by the spaces and places where we live and explore, by the ways we love and the ways we sometimes forget to love—all with a sound that’s reminiscent of the heyday of Tin Pan Alley. It’s a little bit blues, a little bit country, a little bit folk . . . and all that jazz.

The trio features songwriter Todd Powell on vocals and ukulele/keyboard, Wayne Pair on upright bass, and Anne Pair on drums—and they’re often joined by talented guests on guitar, violin, trumpet, and other instruments that evoke a golden era of American music.
